How to find your way around mini excavators and attachments
Choose the machine by the job, the space available and transport, and the attachments by the weight of the mini excavator.
In short: choose the machine by weight, digging depth and transport; for attachments, all you need is the weight class of your mini excavator and the hydraulic lines available.
1. Mini excavators from 0.65 to 1.3 t
The most compact: they pass through gates and narrow access, dig from 1.25 to 2 m and are easy to transport. They suit gardens, vegetable plots, irrigation, utility connections and small building jobs.
2. Mini excavators from 1.8 to 3.9 t
Heavier and more stable, they dig from about 2.3 to 3 m and handle larger attachments. They are zero tail swing and, in the larger versions, have a cab: the choice for builders and continuous work.
3. Electric mini excavators
Zero emissions and quiet: they work in greenhouses, indoors, historic centres and close to homes. They dig to about 1.6–1.7 m with a weight of 1.1–1.2 t.
4. Buckets, augers and hydraulic breakers
Buckets are for digging, levelling and ditch cleaning; augers for holes for posts, trees and fences; hydraulic breakers for breaking concrete, asphalt and rock. Each attachment states the compatible mini excavator weight class.
5. Log grapples and forestry shears
Grapples load logs, firewood, stones and materials to be sorted, also with a hydraulic rotator; shears cut and hold trees up to 10–13 cm. The rotator needs an extra hydraulic function.
6. Support and spare parts
All machines and attachments have a 2-year warranty and CE conformity; technical support and express spare parts come directly from DELEKS®, also for attachments fitted to other makes of mini excavator.
| Subcategory | What you will find | Who it is for |
|---|---|---|
| Mini excavators | 0.65 to 3.9 t, diesel, petrol and electric | Private users, gardeners, builders |
| Buckets | Buckets of different widths and types | Digging, levelling, ditches |
| Augers | Hydraulic augers with bits of different diameters | Holes for posts, trees, fences |
| Hydraulic breakers | Hydraulic hammers for different weight classes | Demolition, breaking rock and concrete |
| Grapples and forestry shears | Wood and stone grapples, sorting grapples, shears | Firewood, clearing, sorting |
Which mini excavator for private use?
For the garden, vegetable plot and jobs around the house, models from 0.9 to 1.3 t are usually right: compact, easy to transport and digging to about 2 m. If you work close to walls and fences, consider a zero tail swing model.
Do the attachments fit other makes of mini excavator?
Yes, buckets, augers, breakers and grapples also fit other makes of mini excavator in the same weight class. Check the connection type and hydraulic requirements on the product page.
Diesel or electric?
Diesel is the choice for long working hours away from mains power. Electric has zero emissions and is quiet: ideal in greenhouses, indoors and in town.
What does zero tail swing mean?
The upper structure rotates without the counterweight sticking out beyond the tracks, so you can work right next to walls, fences and plants without hitting them.
What about warranty and spare parts?
All mini excavators and attachments have a 2-year warranty and CE conformity; spare parts are available with express delivery.
Which attachments do I need to start?
Usually a digging bucket and a wider bucket for levelling or ditch cleaning; a grapple if you handle wood or stones; an auger for posts and fences.
